Periodic health and safety training is the responsibility of every employer – its purpose is to reinforce employees' knowledge and skills in the field of occupational health and safety. One of the acceptable forms of such training is guided self-study, a modern method of education that combines the convenience of remote learning with the substantive supervision of specialists.
Pursuant to §15(2) of the Regulation of the Minister of Economy and Labor of July 27, 2004, on training in the field of occupational health and safety (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1327), periodic training may be conducted in the form of a course, seminar, or guided self-study for managers, engineering and technical staff, administrative and office staff, occupational health and safety services, and employers performing the tasks of these services.
The form of guided self-study is therefore acceptable for:
- employers performing health and safety service tasks
- health and safety service employees (health and safety specialists and inspectors)
- persons managing employees, i.e.: department and section managers, foremen, team leaders, directors, and managers.
- engineering and technical employees, including: technologists, designers, automation engineers, production engineers, maintenance specialists.
- administrative and office employees: HR, finance, human resources, and marketing specialists, customer service employees, secretaries, analysts, IT specialists, remote workers
The exception are employees in blue-collar positions, for whom periodic training takes the form of instruction only (e.g., production machine and equipment operators, welders, electricians, warehouse workers, forklift drivers, steel structure fitters, construction workers (e.g., bricklayers, steel fixers, carpenters), locksmiths, maintenance workers, excavator or loader operators, internal transport workers, production line workers).
What is guided self-study?
It is a form of learning in which the participant independently familiarizes themselves with materials prepared by the organizer (e.g., videos, presentations, online tests), while having contact with a lecturer or health and safety expert. This form allows you to effectively acquire knowledge at a convenient time and place, while maintaining formal requirements. The training must last a minimum of 8 hours and end with a test, and its course must be documented.
Thanks to this formula, companies can save time, automate training processes, and manage documentation more easily, without compromising on quality and compliance with regulations.
It is an ideal solution for companies that focus on modernity and efficiency in health and safety management.
